Subject: RE: 4030 or 4230 JD GASOLINE tractor

Lincoln County. NC
The centerline of the pinion shaft is moved away from the centerline of the crankshaft. I have seen that in other applications. That may or may not apply in this case. I know I recently ordered a starter for a gas 4030 instead of a Diesel by mistake. The pinion did not engage the flywheel ring gear. The diesel starter we ended up getting had to be re-clocked using the Allen head bolts so the solenoid cleared the block.
