Went to lunch, been thinking. Anything to do with the PTO clutch not releasing, adjusted wrong, would be the opposite affect you have, the main clutch would not disengage. I will read my JD tech manual on clutch problems.
PTO clutch on a 4020 has no springs to keep it engaged like the engine clutch. The PTO clutch engages when the throw out bearing moves forward and hits the three fingers thus pushing the pressure plate up against the friction disc. When the PTO throw out bearing moves to far it hits the engine clutch throw out bearing thus releasing the engine clutch or making it slip. |
