Subject: RE: epleys vs dekalb

Frytown, Iowa
Yes, all NGMO corn check was AG 6499 and had a check beside each hybrid. This is one year of data on 50 CSR soil

Epleys 1910 beat check by 4 bu
Epleys 2110 beat check by 1 bu
Dekalb 6432 beat check by 15 bu

Depends on what you have to pay for dekalb to determine which hybrid wins profitability. Epleys is $85/bag through coup. So at $3.20 cash corn dekalb would need to be $173 or less just to break even. My opinion some risk has to be taken out of cost. I’m not going to give all my reward away.

And it is just one year of data. What it told me is those hybrids can hang on tougher soils and they get a few more ac this next year

Maybe I put in a plot on 80 CSR ground next year
