There are a few things in play here. We have hands down the most controversial President ever and all manner of serious allegations against him which thus far have not been proven to be true. We have an economy that is doing quite well but a stock market that is as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Then we have the shutdown which in and of itself isn’t a huge deal as we have lived through those before. This one has drug on longer than any other with both sides apparently dug in and the president struggling to keep the support of some of his backers on the far right. If he comes out of this with anything other than a $5 billion wall it will be considered a loss which would further divide the GOP. This division will be extremely important should any more legal bombshells come out that are proven to have merit. It further weakens the president’s position. This all adds up to a lot of uncertainty which probably translates to some pretty erratic markets. We’ll see I guess.
