I am on my fourth Krone cutter baler, a 1290hdp2xc. Yes, the cutter will decrease capacity somewhat. You are processing feed, it’s going to slow you down a bit and take more power. But you will gain bale density and make better feed. The cut job and power requirements are both up to you. You can run as many as 26 knives or none at all depending on what you want to do. I typically run half of them. The most important thing to keeping it operating effectively and efficiently it to keep the knives sharp. We change them out or at least inspect them daily. There are hardened knives available that don’t require as much maintenance but they will break more easily if you pick up stones or debris.
