Just my quick two cents. I'd skip the sweep and build a bud box. Cheaper and works better anyway. I also think the start of your alley should be open (especially towards the side where the rest of the cattle for the next batch may be standing) and then transition into a solid alley. They will definitely load into your alley better that way. After they move further into the alley the solid sheeting will keep them from being as shook up and trying to get out all the time.
