Subject: RE: Using Turbo-Till in spring on bean stubble as backup to strip till

West Central Indiana
When we had more help and a smaller planter my dad wouldn't hardly plant corn unless the salford or turbo till had hit the beanstubble. We liked to run at least 5.5 when planting. With that said we had manual adjust row cleaners on the planter and once we had them set we liked to leave them. Now we have a bigger planter, less help, less corn acres and CleanSweep. I feel like if it's dry enough to run our turbo till it's dry enough to no-till. This spring was the first time in years we had a slightly better stand behind the turbo till than straight no-tilling. When it was all said and done this fall I couldn't see enough yield difference to say that running the turbo till paid. I'm in west central Indiana.....that's a long way from NC Iowa though!

We decided a few years ago to to start the bean planter same day as corn planter...that kind of put the nail in the coffin for running the turbo till much.
