Subject: Constipated Holstein Calf

West Michigan
Have been having an issue with the last few groups of calves we received. We always get our calves from the same dairy at 2-3 days old. At the dairy they are fed colostrum. When we get them by us usually leave on a bottle for a day or two then to a bucket. The issue we are having is that they seem healthy and will seem slow to drink at a feeding and then the next feeding they are dead? This has been happening to few within a few days of us picking them up. They seem possibly constipated, had one this morning that was dead but looked like he could have been trying to poop? Can't find any poop in the pen. Do you think it is the transition from colostrum to milk replacer? Been raising calves for a few years now and this seems to be a new problem. What advice do you have?
