ESW ND | If you mean you face the flat ends of the bales out. I wouldn't worry about a strap down the center length wise. I've hauled thousands of bales hundreds of miles this way. I'm talking 2 bales on bottom and 2 bales on top. Should work the same way if you only do one bale on top. Strap every top row and the very back end bottom two bales. Never lost a single bale...ever. Throw with the wind and ratchet them buggers down so the strap sinks in the bale. Never got stopped...ever. I surely don't miss hauling hay commercially either.

I put them on trailer so (2) 5x6 bales are 10' wide, not 12' wide with 1 in the center on top of the 4 bales. I feel very little risk for something going off the side, much greater risk for the back end dropping off. |
