n.c.iowa | Pretty much have hit the disadvantages.
The advantage is that with that gate system is that you don't need a post at the end of the gate, at least initially.....the foot attachment has greater support because instead of a single weld point, there are two weld points on the foot base spaced about 3-4" apart, so it lends greater support to the gate through the angle iron, virtually no broken base/ gate supports.
The feet should be closer to the end of the gate off of the end of the feeder though, in my experience.
Like I said at least initially, but I never was exposed to galvanized gates in this system, so maybe the galvanizing helps.
Still have to get the manure out of the bottom, most of the wash crews have rigged up a 45-60 deg. elbow to blow up under there.
