Try Utah. They aren't kidding, it really is the greatest snow on earth. Something about the lake effect and the way the Front Range sits makes some nice powder.

A lot of places have gotten into making snow where they didn't used to need to, but they have to start the season early, etc. Also drought. Plenty of snow at certain times of the year, really hard unless your close to pick your skiing days based on when they just had a nice batch of cold, dry snow.
