I just did a quick look at both of the ski areas websites.  Telluride is mentioned as one of the best ski towns in the US, and
is much larger in size than Purgatory.  They both should offer some nice options.  This is high season, so crowds will be there,
so check out lodging, it will be hard to find.

I don't think snow is good at all in the west.  Too warm and no snow.
They make snow and groom the slopes you will be on.
