I'm running a vert and have done some stalks occasionally. It will chew it up some, but not like a being ground up. I've got one set of cows on a mixer ration, and put the stalk bales in a rack to keep them more content. They can't be that hungry, but completely clean up the bale. I wonder if different variety stalks taste better? They were GMO, so that's not it
