Subject: Is there any thing that can be used as ruffage

south west iowa
The guy that rents our crop ground is just now getting the corn out. So we haven't gotten any stalks baled yet and there is now snow under the stalks after he has combine them. And it don't look good at getting any baled now. This time last year we had 2600 bales. And we are using 45 bales a week and are just about out of last years bales. Is there any thing we can feed other than corn stalks or hay to cows and calves? We have been feeding ground corn stalks and mod wet cake and syrup to them now. The stalk bales and hay bales are to high to buy and the mod wet cake is about getting to high to feed now to. The corn fields don't have any fences and we have way to many deer to put up a hot wire to graze the fields. Just looking for a cheep thing to feed them.
