SC MN
Is that a 4 or 5 inch casing? Unfortunately over time rust or sediment can build up inside the casing and make pulling the pump difficult or impossible. Our old well was a 4" pump in a 4" casing with metal drop pipe, and even though we pulled the pump about every 10 years to replace, (hog farm), the last time it was a bit of a tug of war at some points.

I thought if you used poly drop pipe there was suppose to be a cable attached to the pump to assist in pulling, and keep the pump from dropping to the bottom of the well if the pipe broke. Also with the poly pipe, you can't push the pump back up and down to help break the rust.

Just a thought, would some type of a sewer jetter possibly clean some of the scale off the inside of the casing. Kinda hard to do now if the pump is stuck at a narrow spot.

Best advice I can give is to call a local well driller and get some advice or help.
