UPDATE:
well we decided on a 2014 durango sxt, figured that had the lowest overall fixed costs associated with it and didn't need premium fuel. got 24.2 mpg on the way home with it (highway, hand calculated), very nice ride, hope it lasts. thanks for the remarks.
