Northern Brewer sales the "starter 1 gallon kits", other do too, but, I like their stuff better.  I've had the hardware for a few years now and buy several of the 1 gallon recipe kits a year from them.  They are fun to do.  Cheaper and easier to buy beer than to brew it, but, it gives me something to do over the winter while watching football. I can see how most graduate to 5 gallon kits, but, I just can't justify the money or the room for all of that.
