EC GA | It should all be mix and match between the synchro styles and the guided or unguided shifter. The newer style synchros were an improvement on the low speed shift ( 1, 2, 4, 6), but really didn't add much to the high speed shift (3, 5, 7, 8). They were a great improvement for the later tractors with the Quad shift pattern where you always shifted through the low speed shift going from 3-4 into R1-R2. The synchros in 1-2 would wear out even though you may have rarely used those gears. In a synchro-range, it's not that much difference. The guided shifter with the long bolt is a definite upgrade. I'd put it back together like you've got it assuming you have new synchro plates etc. in it now. | |
