North Central Ohio | I have had two aortic valves replaced. Both by open heart surgery. At the present time a TAVR is a one time replacement. My first valve lasted 13 years, it was a porcine valve and I didn't need blood thinners. At my age I decided to have the second valve done by surgery, and hopefully it lasts as long as the first ....13 years. I will have a TAVR then when this second valve wears out. The second valve is a bovine valve. With the first surgery I was walking a mile in two weeks. The second surgery is taking a longer recovery. I had the second surgery at Cleveland Clinic. | |
