Docs said the gold standard is still surgical replacement, but because of her age, she was a candidate for having it done With a catheter. She was sedated, they went in through her femoral artery and placed a new valve mechanism as though it was a stent. I’d have never believed that was possible.
About 3 days in hospital and she did get a pacemaker too. The effect on her overall health and level of activity was immediate. Go talk with a cardiologist. |
