| Most of the land the're talking about expanding wouldn't require much clearing. The small trees are easy to get rid of and the large ones can be farmed around. Two pieces of steel from north to south would change a lot of things. A government official told me a couple years ago that Brazil doesn't have the money, no one will loan them the money and no one wants to invest in Brazil since the political climate is so uncertain. If China built a railroad Brazil might take it from them before the train gets warm. Besides, the more land put into production the lower prices will be. The Brazilian government does run the railroad but they've been known to be incredibly inefficient. | |
