Fontanelle, IA | I have 2 eaton bins that have the top, fill hole at the peak of the roof measuring around 24 inches. I have a GSI spreader that has 3 "claws that fit over the lip of the fill hole so the spreader actually "plugs" the fill hole. Thus, spreader plugs hole and constricts air flow. Slow moist air has a greater time to condense on the bin roof than faster moving air. I get condensation on the roof- so I need more venting.
I have another bin that had a shivers system in it originally where the fill hole is probably 4 feet diameter. Same GSI spreader is hung from a tripod of chains so the spreader actually sits below the peak of the roof about maybe 2-3 feet. Never find condensation on the roof because have plenty of vent area through the roof fill hole so air never has a chance to slow down to condense. Spreader doesn't block/plug my air in this bin.... | |
