Statesville, NC | I think it's more important to have lockers on a semi than a straight truck. With a semi, on uneven ground, the trailer and tractor can be in a twist, and this takes weight off one side of the rear ends and puts it on the other side. For example, with a total of 34000 pounds on the truck rear axles, you could have 22000 pounds the right and 12000 pounds on the left. The left, having less weight, is going to spin, even with the power divider locked, both left side wheels will spin and not pull much. Going thru the differential, you only have as much traction as the lightest side has. | |
