Subject: RE: Feeding silage cows

Ne Nebraska
I’ve always fed my cows silage. How does silage do being fed cows.

I’ve always fed 30# ground hay (2 bales alfalfa to 2 bales stalks when grinding) and 30# corn silage to my cows through mixer wagon and got along fine. I’ve got 1300-1400# cows. Amount varies some depending on time of gestation, how big of calf, if they can graze stalks, weather, etc. but generally mix half and half when I feed.
