North Central Texas
Over 50% of cattle today are graded by camera so the human part is gone. Even though cameras were thought to be wrong last year, that were only off a few percent and still more accurate than human graders. The human graders are not employed by the slaughter facility yet that do have bias depending on the time of year and what is in demand. This bias has been traditionally based on quality grade and not yield grade. They still knocked 4s and 5s on yield. Having to feed to yield grade 4 isnt needed with today's genetics to get a prime carcass. If you believe different than look up an old friend of mine at WTAMU and his cloning efforts to produce the perfect calf.
