Subject: RE: Domestic engineer question

southern MN
My old large microwave started showing odd numbers on the display. I assumed it was mini power outages confusing the keypad/ display.

Then it was goofy display and humming twice.

One hot day I was coming in the house a lot for air and water. And I smelled something. Assumed it was the hog manure being applied to an alfalfa field next door.

Next time in the house I looked all around, seemed an electrical smell.

Opened the pantry where the microwave was, and could hardly see across the room. Plastic smoke in the air. Got it unplugged, wire was not hot, but the case was warm to the touch. Got it carried outside. The add on turntable inside was kinda baked apart, nothing else was in it.

Think I was pretty close to a bad deal there. Hadn’t used the microwave in a couple days.
