Fruita CO | Clean it before you junk it. Mine, Quasar, at least 25 years old got to giving a lightning show inside, sounded like a welder as you say. I thought it was done for, but googled the problem, & it was food particles stuck to the top inside. They will start igniting. We had always cleaned the sides & glass tray, but the top surface was pretty grody...this was when I was living by myself, so it may have got neglected more then...I exploded more than one chunk of roast beef in there. Cleaned it out good & it has worked for 4-5 years now.
