Subject: Domestic engineer question

I have this Whirlpool microwave of unknown age that once in awhile sounds like a welder inside. It is spitting sparks from a little screen way high up on the control side of the box. Seems certain things set it off worse than others.

When making my Sunday popcorn I always melted my butter in their while the blow air popper was popping. I used a pyrex measuring cup and it didnt like that lately. Tried a plastic cup, it seems it just does not like butter.

Today I was defrosting hamburger in a melomine bowl and it didnt like that, put it in a plastic bowl and okay. Other thing is the turn table reverses each time you start it and seems to work better one way than the other.

1. Is this thing dangerous?
2.Is it fixable?
3. WHY??? is it doing this? NEVER used to
