Subject: RE: drilling through tile

We had to drill through wall tile and bought a tile drill bit. Floor tile is usually not as difficult to drill. One thing in the instructions it said to do was to cover the area where you want to drill with painter's tape. It works great from keeping the drill from skipping around. We had several series of 3 hole groups we needed to drill for hardware. Slow and steady and it went fairly easy. We would spray water so after one or two holes the tape would be soaked and worthless. We tried to just finish. Yes, the bit skipped and bounced around. We started using fresh tape for each hole. We did the same when we put the supply line through the floor for the toilet. We started all with a pilot hole and increased in size as we went.
