SWIL | Not familiar with your environment but if you have a lot of trees you could be dropping signal quite often. I get by with SF1 but used a SF2 trial once and was very impressed with accuracy. What you're describing isn't acceptable. But your quote below makes it seem like it's offset related. An offset will narrow guess row one way and widen the other.

Once I realized it, I had to nudge to recenter at each end. It seemed like one end was too close while the other was far away.
