First hint of frost will kill it. The rhyme here in southern ON is plant by the 15th of July wet or dry.

If your neighbors are doing it then I gather you know the plant doesn’t die when the grain matures? You’ll need to swath it. Threshes easy but It’s a large light grain ....47 lbs/bu and lots of vegetation so it’s not the easiest thing to separate. If you’re able to dry it, Ive found it separates better wet.
