That’s what I do in my garden.

When I was a kid working in the garden I stopped one day and thought why would a corn plant need ten inches to grow one direction but thirty eight or forty in another direction?

My sweet corn gets planted in small blocks in 10 inche wide rows about 5 feet long with 10 inches between plants.

You get a lot more stuff planted that way with WAY less weed pressure.
