Subject: RE: Lock washer vs. Loctite

SW OH
Read an aggregate magazine at work years ago that did an extensive test on fasteners. More specifically keeping them from falling out. Split, external, and internal tooth lock washers scored lower than bolts with nothing else. Testing was done on a horizontal screen deck. Nylocks were ok but stover nuts were better. Several types of loctite were tested but I don't remember their score. Surprisingly never seize scored very near the top. If you look at any equipment made in recent years you will not find many if any lock washers.
