1983 was a short corn crop and wheat was poor in 1936. Maybe you are talking Nebraska specific. Started cold the turned hot and dry. Beans did not hit the high until june of the following year.
If I remember correctly we were dry early in the spring of1983 just like this year. I like it dry (it's a mosquito thing) !
