NC Indiana | We also us Dam's number and put date of birth underneath. If it ends up staying in the herd, we use the birth year letter and number off of dam's tag, and we put the dam's tag number in smaller print up above. I've been on farms were they use the last digit of the birth year and then the calfs number in the order of calving to number the calf - ie 801 would be the first calf born in 2018. I've been on others where the cow family all has the original dam's tag number as the last 2 or 3 digits and the current year as the first digit. | |
