Subject: RE: Section Control/Variable Rate Drive - John Deere Box Drill

NW Ohio
We got ours up and running fall of 2016. Had seen WTW's post and thought it made good sense. Idler motor with speed sensor and brand pwm on the tongue, controlled by 20/20 with rowflow. Then have a motor with 4.8:1 chain reduction for each of the 7.5' drill sections. Started with poppet valves for the bypass, but they worked erratically at the extremely low pressures the system runs; spool type valves solved that problem. Once the oil is warmed up, It only takes about 350 psi to turn the 5 motors - running belt meters btw. Found one poor pic of it running, can take more if you'd like. Couple of maps off of fieldview - plated acreage went from 18.9 to 17.2 on this field. Seeing around 5% reduction in planted acreage on average with mostly square fields.
