This is what we've been using.   This coming year will be our third year with it.  Very satisfied.  

If you're truly looking for honest feedback..... I think the Simple Simon Soil Sampler is more user friendly and more reliable than what you're proposing.  Hard to say for sure, but that would be my assumption.    Significant cost difference in favor of the Simple Simon Soil Sampler compared to what you're suggesting too.
