Subject: SSYNTHETIC OIL IN OVER THE ROAD TRUCKS

I changed oil in my semi a couple of weeks ago in a un-heated shop, outside temp was about 20 degrees and seeing first hand just how hard to pump (I have a electric pump on a 55 gal barrel) 15W40 shell rotella oil was (I ended up aiming a knipco heater at barrel to get it warm up enough to pump). Even though I plug engine in every night, that only heats up the coolant, oil in pan stays nice and cold. Each morning I shudder as I start truck, thinking about that thick oil not wanting to pump through engine.

I'm assuming synthetic oil will flow a lot better in cold temps (using the right viscosity). What brands/blends are you using? Any better fuel mileage? How many miles between oil changes? What can I expect to pay for the oil? Thanks for you replies.
