SWOH | How do seed companies come up with what number they put on a variety? I don't plant Pioneer or Dekalb and I'm reading all these posts about some Dekalb number and then the RR version is a completely different number and the RR/BT version is a completely different number and I can't even guess what Pioneer's numbers mean. Why can't they just use the same number as the straight stuff and put RR or BR or VT or LL or whatever behind the number? Seems like it'd be a lot easier than trying to figure out what's the same variety with a different trait. Just always been curious about it..... | |
