I remember reading about something similar to this probably 5 or 7 years ago in successful farming or another Ag magazine. It was right as cover crops were starting to be discussed. As I remember, the trial was done out in dry land Kansas or Oklahoma. Their yield environment is was highly variable but this system seemed to help stabilize yields, provide forage, and cut down on wind erosion during dry times. I might have that article saved somewhere because of the novelty to it.
