You have the right idea. I've loaded piles of draper headers, MacDon and Honeybee. If they are in transport mode I leave them as such. With the Honeybee style, just stick a big block under the hitch and chain her down.

Semi is also the way to go, especially since you have your own. The transport system works fine for reasonable distances, but 600 miles would be excessive from my experiences. I've seen two of the Honeybee headers lose spindles on the adapter side during road transport behind a pickup. They aren't a whole lot of fun to jack up on the side of the road.
