Subject: I'm hearing NO to the 1/2 ton!!!!

Rivers, MB
My senior partner seems to think you can pull anything with a 1/2 ton. And if you say you can't, then he tries even harder!

We don't have a 3/4 ton. Don't tow enough heavy stuff to justify it. Every now and again though, we do run into this. We have the stepdeck and semi so I'm thinking that is the way to go. Easiest would be to back the header in transport onto the back of the deck. that way, don't have to be concerned with getting a combine up high enough to lift the header off. Most loading docks seem to be set up to unload off the end, not the side.

Concerned as how to chain the tongue end. Those jacks are flimsy just sitting on the ground, let alone on a moving deck. thinking that blocking up the hitch and chaining it down would be better than having it sit on the jack and then chaining it down.

Thanks for the advice guys. You've confirmed what I was feeling was the right option.
