Subject: RE: CORS vs Private Base via Cellular

NW Ohio
If you get a 542, the only time setting up a base takes any time is initial setup. Getting the proper LAT/LON/ALT. Once stored in the base (you can store 12 positions) it is just a matter of mounting the antennas and turning the base on. Autobase recognizes that it is at position A, B or C and starts transmitting corrections.

I setup the base as a rover using a cell phone with Lance's NTRIP client and our CORS network to get the base location. By doing so you get extremely close to survey accuracy. The other advantage, if you do it this way, you have the CORS network as a backup without line shift.
