wood ash gives you a much better bite on that surface
I have gravel to put down also. But got in hurry with 15 inches of snow on the way and trying to finish up. The Rd was in ok shape till we messed it up. We made a call to give the twp a heads up.
Edit to add. The Rd is super crowned.....it doesn't show in pic but I don't blame them due to our precipitation every yr
