One thing that helps is to take a weeks worth of bales set them on their end frozen side to the sun. I will bounce snow off them, then set them to the sun. If needed when when feeding them it helps to roll them on the ground before cutting net or twine off. This setting to the sun also helps with ton bales. Works for us.
