Subject: RE: boron on beans

39.48, -82.98
Tim, this time last year recent soil tests had me alarmed at the low B levels. So this summer we split a couple fields -- one corn, one beans -- and applied B to half. Weeks later, I took paired tissue and soil samples either side of the "line." Then, this fall, I harvested a couple passes either side of the line and weighed the results.

I may do some more experimenting in '18 but I am no longer too concerned about B. The application had no lasting effect on B in the plant and did not translate into added yield. This, on ground at 0.1 ppm soil test (and lab was marking anything below 0.8 as low).
