I welded(and reinforced) the same joint on my loader tractor 20 some odd year ago. Still going strong...
As stated above, it was born by welding, I don't see why it can't be resurrected the same way. If you're not that confident in your welding skills take it to a pro. Still be cheaper than a new one.
