north central Iowa, Hampton | You may have luck on Craig's list or such. If you end up looking at new, ask some of the local churches / schools who they buy from. We have a guy in northern Iowa that sells to most of the churches in the surrounding 20 counties--good folks get a good reputation. He's usually got some used inventory as well.
Yamaha, Roland and Kawai all make good instruments. On a budget and for portability, you could look for one that's just a keyboard, without the "stand" part and use a portable "X" shaped stand to play it. Our church has one set up that way. It's easy to pick up, put in a vehicle and take somewhere and it's got a sustain pedal that plugs in and sits on the floor. Even the bottom of the line in those brands is going to play well. Most of the instruments I've been around get used in "piano" mode, so the 42 available voices, rhythm section and record/playback capabilities are kind of wasted money.
