Thanks guys for all the different ideas! So I'm not the only one who detests these keys!!
I had the shaft and pulleys out on the ground so I had good liberty to try anything. I chose to weld the ends of the keys to the shaft And using a heavy sledge hammer to knock the shaft out along with the keys! Had to "re-tack" the keys on several times as the weld kept breaking loose.
Interestingly I could move the pulley some with the keys in but the keys themselves seemed stuck. Even looked like the shaft had never seize on it. |
