Subject: Feeder House Pulleys How do you remove Tapered Keyways in 2388

Kalona, IA

Am changing bearings in my 2388 feeder house and would like to flip the shaft to get to new wear spots. Will probably need to drill a couple new holes though. Is it worth the effort?

My biggest problem is that I can't get those STUPID tapered keyways out!! Even cracked the pulley trying :(  I've pounded on the shaft at both ends, on the pulley hub, tried pulling the keys using wedges, tried pounding em out from the reverse side with NO luck! the shaft actually moves but the keys move along with it. I HATE those things.

How do you do it??   Weather's to nice to be broke down!

Thanks
